There’s a version of a Women’s Month activation that feels routine: a banner, a pink moment, a caption about empowerment. We wanted something different. Last March, we spent a weekend at Spatio doing what women have always done well—gathering, sharing knowledge, and making something together. The occasion was beauty. What came out of it felt like more.
On Making Things
The first order of business that Saturday was the Create Your Own Perfume workshop with Scent Studio’s Bernadette Lim—a Filipina perfumer who has spent years building a serious body of work in a category the Philippines is only beginning to claim as its own.
Participants didn’t just sniff strips. They sat down, blended fragrance oils, made decisions, and walked away with a full-size bottle of something entirely their own. Fragrance is one of the most personal expressions of beauty—putting that creative act in their hands felt right.

Beyond Summer-Ready Routines
The afternoon talk with Beach Hut and Small Steps Skin wasn’t just a summer skincare briefing—it was a snapshot of something we’ve been watching shift in the Filipino beauty conversation. SPF literacy is genuinely improving, and the brands showing up for it deserve the spotlight.

Small Steps Skin also previewed their new Lip Syrup at the event, letting guests decorate their own on the spot. Hands-on, personal, and easy to remember—which is exactly the point.

To close the segment, Detail Cosmetics led a quick summer-ready makeup tutorial featuring its new Sun Tonic Collection.

The Brands We Keep Coming Back To
The Scent Discovery session—featuring Tadhana, GP Fragrances, Anino, and BC Scent Studio—was an affirmation of something The Beauty Edit has been saying for years: Filipino fragrance is having a real moment, and it deserves the same editorial attention we give international houses. Gathering four distinct fragrance voices in one room, for anyone to explore freely, felt important.

Events like this are, for us, an extension of the editorial work. Every workshop, talk, and discovery session was chosen because it reflects something we genuinely believe in: ingredient transparency, Filipino brand equity, beauty as something participatory rather than passive. The day wasn’t designed to move units. It was designed to make the conversation feel real.
