In the mood for: this popular pick from Diptyque–Eau Rose.
Sweet but not cloying, fresh but not light, youthful but grownup, this rose masterpiece is a beautiful composition that’s easy to love. You sense the rose and fruits in the opening, which we found to be quite tart, and so we weren’t surprised when we learned it had black currant apart from lychee and bergamot as top notes. There is almost a juicy layer here that’s pleasant but disappears in the drydown. At its heart is rose from the finest damascena and centifolia roses, with geranium and jasmine. It also has a green layer, which you’ll sense in the beginning. It’s truly like Diptyque took not just the roses but its leaves and stems. Ambroxan is its olfactory accident, which gives this perfume extra oomph and a unique facet. Musk, honey, cedar work for its soft, clean drydown.
Rose perfumes were once our obsession, and this makes us remember exactly why we got into modern roses. It is truly a must-have for every rose fragrance lover.
Diptyque is at Rustan’s The Beauty Source.
