A Niche Obsession: Ormonde Jayne

Ormonde Jayne’s exquisitely crafted scents are treasures to cherish—for their distinct blend of notes, rich history, and refined fragrances.

It’s been a year since Ormonde Jayne, the niche London-based fragrance house, made its debut in the Philippines at Art of Scent. Founded in 2000 by Linda Pilkington, the brand is rooted in a philosophy that refers to the golden age of perfumery—an era when fragrance crafting was a meticulous art. Its absolutes and essential oils are infused for months before filtration, then left to mature, resulting in richer, more intricate compositions. We can say that this commitment to tradition and craftsmanship is evident in every Ormonde Jayne perfume we have tried with fragrances of exceptional depth and quality.

Its perfumes are wearable yet distinctive, making them a joy to experience for collectors and also a great entry to niche perfumery for anyone.

Ormonde Jayne Frangipani

Frangipani starts out brightly and citrusy before it becomes fresh and floral. At its heart, the lush, creamy frangipani flower is complemented by delicate notes of jasmine, magnolia, and lime peel, which we think accounts for its tropical scent. The blend is grounded by soft amber and musk, giving it a warm, lingering, and sophisticated finish

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman

Ormonde Woman is one of the brand’s earlier scents created in 2003. This is a great everyday scent for those who want to leave a delicate yet lasting impression. It opens with notes of fresh grass oil and cardamom, setting the stage for a dark, woody heart of black hemlock, a rare and intriguing ingredient that adds depth and allure. Violet, jasmine, and amber give the fragrance a soft floral touch, while a base of cedar, sandalwood, and moss provides an earthy, grounding finish. This aromatic scent is unconventional and utterly refined.

Ormonde Jayne Arabesque

Arabesque is a personal favorite—a stunning rose oud and amber gourmand masterpiece. The notes are so seamlessly blended, it’s hard to pinpoint individual notes, yet they come together in perfect harmony. The top notes feature blackcurrant, Italian bergamot, black pepper, and saffron, leading into a heart of jasmine and rose absolute. At its “soul,” as the brand describes, lie rich layers of musk, moss, patchouli, and oud. The scent lingers and blooms and becomes you throughout the day. This can be a super statement scent. We know it’s ours.
