There are fragrances that simply smell good—and then there are fragrances that mean something. For the latest edition of Trial&Splendor featuring Lancôme we discovered something that delivers both. In celebration of the new Idôle Power, we took a deep dive into the emotion, intention, and craftsmanship behind one of the brand’s boldest olfactory statements yet.
Before getting into the fragrance itself, we warmed up with a lighthearted yet telling icebreaker: “If your go-to fragrance had a special power, what would it be?” The answers came quickly and almost unanimously circled back to the same themes: confidence, self-assurance, strength, and a sense of feeling unstoppable. For this group of fragrance enthusiasts, scent isn’t just about smelling good; it’s a source of energy, identity, and personal power. A way to show up more fully in your day—and sometimes even in your own skin.
That made Idôle Power the perfect match.
The Scent of Strength
The centerpiece of the afternoon was a fragrance discovery and layering session focused on Idôle Power, Lancôme’s first-ever woody fragrance. Rather than simply spritzing and moving on, we were invited to experience the fragrance layer by layer to understand how each note contributes to the bold, empowering impression it leaves behind.
We began by exploring Idôle Power in its full form: a fragrance that radiates strength and softness in equal measure. The group immediately noted its warm floral character, as well as the clarity with which each note revealed itself. Then came a rare treat: breaking the fragrance down, note by note, and experiencing each one in isolation.
At its core is the signature rose of Idôle, still present but now amplified, more textured, more resonant, and blooming with presence. It’s joined by the creamy richness of sandalwood, which gives the fragrance its depth and warmth, grounding it in strength. Then there’s the intriguing Pomarose accord, a modern fruity note that adds a subtle, almost sparkling contrast that keeps the scent from feeling too traditional.
Unlike the sweeter variants of Idôle, Idôle Power doesn’t lean into sugary or musky. It stands apart: bold, woody, and confident. A scent that asserts without overwhelming. And that contrast—between softness and strength, floral brightness and woody depth—is what captivated the room most.
A Shared Language of Confidence
One of the most powerful moments of the event came toward the end, as we opened the floor to hear everyone’s insights on Idôle Power. The responses were deeply personal—and surprisingly aligned.
Many described an immediate feeling of confidence—not loud or brash, but grounded, steady, and unmistakably themselves. Others shared that it made them feel elegant, ready to take on anything. It was the kind of scent they’d wear to a big presentation, a moment of celebration, or a day when they needed a reminder of their own strength.
Some envisioned saving it for special occasions, while others said they’d wear it to the office, an important meeting, or even a dinner date—moments where they wanted to feel more distinct and captivating.
What began as a fragrance discovery session unfolded into an exploration of personal power and how fragrance can become a tool to channel it. Idôle Power radiates from within, building on the same principles that inspired the original Idôle—femininity, clarity, and modern strength—but with a more intense, textured finish. And in that space filled with women who already embody confidence in every step, the message of Idôle Power resonated: Your power doesn’t come from the fragrance. It’s already in you. The scent just helps you wear it louder.
