The Crown Report: Haircare Newbies, Smart Fixes, and Luxe Formulas

From Shakira’s science-backed launch to bee-powered rituals and Pinoy-coded styling tools, these haircare finds go beyond basics—offering innovation, indulgence, and impact.
Reading Time: 5 minutes

In a country where sleek, healthy hair is both a beauty ideal and a subtle marker of cultural pride, haircare continues to thrive as a fast-evolving category. Local labels are gaining ground, but international names still hold strong, with consumers constantly seeking out the latest innovations. From homegrown essentials to global luxury drops, these standout new launches are making waves—and might just earn a spot in your next shower or styling lineup.

Shakira’s Isima Champions Hair and Heritage

We already know her hips don’t lie—and now, neither does her haircare game. Colombian superstar Shakira—known for her musical chops, magnetic moves, and iconic hair—adds beauty brand founder to her repertoire with the launch of Isima, a name derived from the Spanish suffix used to form superlatives (as in “very”). Described as “Latin-rooted,” the brand reflects the rich hair diversity within the Latin community, and answers the complex needs of modern consumers.

To bring this vision to life, Shakira worked with an impressive panel of experts, including a cosmetic chemical engineer, a seasoned hairstylist, certified trichologists, and a board-certified dermatologist. Together, they developed a clinically backed, eight-piece collection powered by the brand’s TriModal Method™—a three-level care system targeting the scalp, cortex, and cuticle for holistic hair health.

“This is about creating something better,” the 48-year-old superstar says of her latest venture—and by better, she doesn’t just mean your hair. Isima has partnered with Fundación Pies Descalzos, Shakira’s education nonprofit, and Poderistas, a platform that uplifts Latinas, to extend its mission beyond beauty. The debut lineup includes a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, a clarifying shampoo, a leave-in conditioner, a scalp serum, a hair oil, a peptide-infused mask, and a curl-perfecting cream that Shakira calls “the most amazing curl definition product.”

A Japanese Hair Mascara For Easy Everyday Styling

A mascara for your hair—not your lashes? It might sound unusual, but this clever beauty tool has been around for a while, particularly in Japan. KISSME’s Heavy Rotation Full Hair Keep Lock Mascara is exactly that: a hair-fixing mascara designed to tame bangs, flyaways, and stubborn baby hairs with a simple swipe of a wand.

How it works: The style-lock formula provides lasting hold without weighing strands down, so your hair stays polished yet natural-looking. Its unique 3D brush grips even the tiniest hairs, while the anti-humidity formula keeps everything in place—no stickiness, no greasiness. Bonus: it works on all hair types and colors, disappearing seamlessly once applied.

“Whenever the humidity gets too much for my hair, I use this clear formula to tame any flyaways on my crown, and it maintains a sleek look all day,” shares The Beauty Edit’s Partnerships Manager, Nicole Arcano. “Since I have fine hair, I swipe the sides of the brush on the tube before putting it on to make sure I’m not overapplying.”

Tillo MNL Brings Play Back to Hair Accessorizing

Since its late 2024 debut, Tillo MNL—the brainchild of beauty creator Teree Daisuke, co-founded with business partners Paolo Salapantan and Aerol Dy—has been making waves in the local hair accessory scene with pieces that marry form, function, and flair. Its latest drop continues the brand’s signature “fun meets functional” ethos, introducing a fresh lineup of cute fluffbands, hair ties, and, of course, the Filipino-favorite scrunchies.

Long written off as passé, scrunchies have slowly reclaimed their place in the modern beauty conversation in recent years, driven by ’80s and ’90s nostalgia and a renewed focus on scalp care and hair health. These plush accessories are gentler on strands than traditional hair ties, reducing tension and minimizing breakage.

Tillo takes things a step further with playful, practical designs—like the Cookie Scrunchie, cleverly fitted with a little zip-up pocket for stashing your clips, pins, and other mini essentials.

A Royal Ritual for Your Hair: Guerlain’s Bee-Powered Haircare

Abeille Royale, Guerlain’s coveted line powered by the healing intelligence of bees, has long been a gold standard in skincare. Translating to “Royal Bee,” the line harnesses the reparative properties of honey and royal jelly through its signature Blackbee Repair technology. Now, that same science is at the heart of the brand’s luxurious haircare ritual.

Formulated with a blend of four exceptional honeys and other hair-caring actives, the line is designed to repair the hair fiber and strengthen the scalp. The Revitalizing & Fortifying Care Shampoo, inspired by the richness of honey, features an emulsion texture that transforms into a generous lather, leaving hair stronger, shinier, and more voluminous. For complete care, follow with the Repairing & Replumping Care Conditioner, a milky formula that deeply hydrates the scalp and strands without greasy residue. It visibly plumps the hair fiber, restores bounce, and adds luminous shine.
