Welcome to The Beauty Edit Honor Roll™️, our tribute to the trailblazers redefining the beauty industry. This series celebrates the personalities, publications, brands, and leaders who have sparked inspiration, broken barriers, and left a lasting mark on the world of beauty. Curated through votes from The Beauty Edit team and a panel of industry experts, The Beauty Edit Honor Roll™️ 2024 is a proud testament to Filipino ingenuity, creativity, and exceptional talent.

What does it mean to be impactful in today’s world? Is it defined by creativity, or does it stem from the intention and purpose behind one’s art? While many factors contribute to recognizing meaningful work, certain creations stand out—sparking conversations, evoking emotions, and inspiring change. These works embody the true essence of storytelling. Rare, perhaps, but certainly not impossible to find.

For this edition of The Beauty Edit Honor Roll, we are proud to spotlight three exceptional editorials from local publications, along with the talented creatives behind them. These works go beyond mere artistry—they champion meaningful narratives that shape and redefine beauty within the local community. By celebrating their contributions, we aim to honor their creativity, purpose, and impact, which we hope will continue to resonate far beyond their pages and our screens.

Preview: The Show Must Go On, June 2024

Representing the LGBTQIA+ community has always been a challenge—especially in a country dominated by traditional conventions. Today, we’re seeing a societal shift, with growing advocacy for self-expression. As Em Enriquez wrote in Preview’s June cover story: “Queer people have existed long before modern cinema, and it’s increasingly crucial for them to be represented in their most authentic forms.” This underscores the need to continue these efforts across all media to ensure the community is truly seen and heard.

Through the team’s creative and forward-thinking vision, diverse personalities come together, celebrating beauty within a nostalgic cinematic setting—a homage to beloved films of our past. The result is a narrative that is not only visually striking but brimming with stories of compassion, resilience, and love from a thriving community. The show must go on, indeed, and we’re here for it.

MEGA: 50 Models of the Moment, September 2024

In recent years, models have gone beyond their mannequin-like roles. Their presence in front of the lens now holds greater significance, reflecting not just appearances but also advocacies that resonate with people—from the push for inclusivity and social justice to other pressing issues. As MEGA’s managing editor, Stef Juan, aptly put it, “They have started to use their voices and social media platforms to share their lives, their personal style, their thoughts and opinions, and even lend their influence to the causes they believe in.” And she’s absolutely right—models are no longer just faces; they have become catalysts for change.

L’Officiel: Women on Women, March 2024

A no-holds-barred conversation about creativity often sparks something extraordinary, and that’s exactly what unfolded in L’Officiel’s March 2024 issue. In the three-part feature titled “Women on Women,” six prominent female photographers from the local creative scene were paired to explore the “female gaze.” Through their artistry and inspirations—covering everything from shared nuances to contrasting styles—they brought this concept to life in a compelling and thought-provoking way.

As Shaira Luna put it, “For me, I think the most important part of my creative process is just to keep moving and to really just keep on creating. It doesn’t matter if you have a vision or not, or if you have a purpose. I think the important thing is to just keep making things.” With this sentiment, we are reminded how great one’s foundation is when it’s built on purpose. In a world of constant change, holding on to one’s identity is essential to navigate life’s ebb and flow.
