Welcome to our Tried & True series, where we highlight the holy grails and OGs, the top-shelf regulars and under-the-radar picks, as well as the new, fresh-off-the-lab products and viral sensations worth the hype—all from reputable brands we’ve road-tested ourselves.
Behind the name, we explore what makes a brand worth discovering, whether it’s how it has redefined beauty, its founder’s inspiring story, or how its range of offerings gave consumers what they truly want and need. In this edition, we take a closer look at DALA Global, a brand that believes good beauty tools should do more, take up less space, and keep up with wherever life takes you.
The name itself comes from the Filipino word dala, meaning “to bring,” a fitting philosophy for a brand that sees portability as more than a packaging consideration. For DALA, it is part of the product itself: beauty that can move with you, adapt to your routine, and make space for the things that matter outside of it.
“It’s always been said that regardless of where a Filipino chooses to go in the world, we bring our culture with us,” says DALA Global founder Alex Javier. “Our hospitality, inherent love for family, resilience, and hardworking nature, to name a few, are what we’re known for. With this in mind, the word dala has resonated strongly with me when I was drawing inspiration for the brand. I wanted to create a brand that Filipinos could proudly travel with.”
Beauty Without the Excess
DALA’s philosophy is rooted in practicality. Rather than creating products simply to add another item to a beauty bag, the brand looks at what a product can actually contribute to a routine.
“We wanted to create products that bridge the gap between great performance, practicality, and portability. Our ethos has always been products you can bring a.k.a. dala wherever you go,” explains Javier. “No matter where you are in the world and whatever phase in your life, we wanna be part of it, supporting you through it all. Having a piece of F-beauty that doesn’t restrict you from the things you want to do.”
That concept is particularly relevant in makeup tools, where a full face can quickly require a surprisingly large collection of brushes. DALA’s answer has been to rethink the traditional makeup brush not simply by making it smaller, but by making each tool work harder.
“If it isn’t practical and has no value added, we don’t continue with it. It is integral that we create purposeful products with inherent convenience.”
It is a philosophy that runs through the brand’s growing range, from individual brushes and sets to complexion tools designed around specific application techniques.
Made For How Filipinos Do Beauty
That practical mindset extends to how DALA thinks about the Filipino beauty consumer. With influences spanning F-beauty, K-beauty, J-beauty, C-beauty, Thai beauty, and Western beauty, there is no single way to define how Filipinos discover, wear, or experiment with makeup.
“Creating for Filipinos has been the greatest pleasure because of our diversity of trends. We are a melting pot of F-beauty, K-beauty, J–beauty, C-beauty, Thai beauty, and Western beauty. To create products with virtually no bounds provides DALA with infinite ways to develop products that are not just trendy, but also innovative and high-performance,” says Javier
And because so much of makeup comes down to how a product is applied, the brand pays just as much attention to the tools behind the look. “Every product has an intended way of application,” Javier explains.
“Most commonly, a cakey base only occurs because products used were incorrectly layered, and a big contributor to this is the tools used. As DALA, we simply provide the necessary variety and innovation to make it possible. The tools we make are focused on our techniques and makeup trends at price points accessible to everyone.”
Taking F-Beauty Further
For DALA, portability is ultimately part of a bigger ambition: creating Filipino beauty products that can hold their own anywhere in the world.
“This is our north star, and I would say yes, we are already on our way to doing just that,” says Javier. “Our goal is to compete with these global brands just as Filipinos can stand on the world stage and show our prowess in different industries.”
“I’m glad that our F-beauty has recently been recognized by other cultures for its quality and affordability on social media. As for DALA, last year we created an impactful launch with Toni Sia that has changed the way we create our seamless base. This is just an example of how we want to highlight the power that Filipino brands hold, and this is only the beginning for DALA Global.”
HERO PRODUCT
Two Easy Travel Brush Set
If the idea behind DALA is to bring beauty with you wherever you go, the Two Easy Travel Brush Set is perhaps its clearest expression. The set includes three dual-ended brushes for six brush functions, giving you a compact lineup of tools without having to pack a separate brush for every step of your makeup routine.
“Our best-selling product has always been the Two Easy Travel dual-ended brushes. It’s simple, reliable, and serves its greatest purpose of making travelling with fewer tools much easier,” says Javier. “With 3 dual-ended brushes, anyone can create a full face of makeup with no compromises. Especially with our Cloudbristles® technology that allows versatility of use for liquids, creams, and powder products.”
It’s a fitting introduction to DALA’s approach to beauty: thoughtful design, practical functionality, and no unnecessary extras. It’s not a travel version of a brush collection that does less, but a condensed one that does more with fewer pieces.

CULT CLASSIC
Kind Brushes Volume 1
The OG brush set that started it all. Before DALA’s dual-ended and travel-friendly tools, there was the Kind Brushes Volume 1, a 12-piece collection that has become one of the brand’s enduring staples. Designed primarily for powder products, the set covers the everyday essentials across complexion, eyes, and brows, making it a particularly approachable starting point for anyone building a brush collection.
There’s a good amount of variety in this collection as it includes large and medium powder brushes, contour and detail brushes, several eye brushes for shading and blending, an angled liner brush, and a brow-and-lash spoolie. In other words, it gives you room to experiment with different techniques while still keeping the selection practical for everyday makeup.
The brushes are also made with DALA’s signature CloudBristles®, using plant-derived synthetic fibers designed to feel soft on the skin while delivering smooth, even application. They’re also vegan and cruelty-free.

TOOL OF THE TRADE
Hydrocloud Arc Blender
A good makeup sponge can make all the difference when it comes to getting a base that looks even, diffused, and skin-like. The Hydrocloud Arc Blender takes that familiar beauty tool and gives it a distinctive curved shape designed to work around the contours of the face.
The sponge is made to be used damp or dry, giving you flexibility depending on the finish and coverage you want. Used damp, it helps soften and blend complexion products for a more seamless finish; used dry, it can provide a more concentrated application.
Its curved profile also makes it useful beyond simply pressing foundation into the skin. The rounded sections can work across larger areas of the face, while the more defined edges are suited to smaller or harder-to-reach areas around the nose and eyes.

HARDWORKING MUST-TRY
Hydrocloud Cleanser With Silicone Mat Scrub
There’s the fun part of owning makeup brushes—and then there’s washing them. DALA makes the latter considerably less of a chore with its Hydrocloud Cleanser With Silicone Mat Scrub, pairing a brush cleanser with a textured silicone surface designed to help work makeup residue out of the bristles.
The silicone scrubber is particularly useful for getting between densely packed bristles, where foundation, concealer, powder, and other makeup residue can accumulate over time. Used with water and the cleanser, the textured surface helps loosen buildup without relying on aggressive handling that can compromise the brush fibers.
It’s also a practical pairing: rather than needing a separate brush-cleaning solution and scrubbing tool, the set brings both steps together. For anyone with a growing makeup brush collection, that convenience can make the difference between cleaning tools regularly and putting the task off.

And, true to DALA’s portability-first approach, the included pouch keeps everything together, so there’s less rummaging around for individual brushes at the bottom of your bag.

UNDER THE RADAR ESSENTIAL
Easy Basics 6 Piece Brush Set
The no-fuss set for getting the basics right, because not every makeup brush needs to do something revolutionary. Sometimes, you just need a reliable set that covers the essentials without overcomplicating your routine. The Easy Basics 6 Piece Brush Set takes that approach and brings together a practical selection of brushes for everyday makeup application.
It’s a set that’s great for those building their first collection, but is just as useful for anyone who prefers to keep their brush lineup edited. Rather than overwhelming you with highly specific tools, the set focuses on the brushes you’re most likely to reach for regularly.
The brushes can take you through the key stages of a makeup look, from complexion and cheek products to eye makeup, without requiring you to learn a different tool for every formula or technique.

Face Architect Blushed and Bronzed Brush Set
Because blush and bronzer can completely change the dimension of a makeup look, the Face Architect Blushed & Bronzed Brush Set gives each step its own dedicated tool. The duo is designed to make cheek color and warmth easier to place, blend, and build, whether you’re after a subtle wash or a more defined finish.
The brushes are shaped for targeted application, helping you sculpt and diffuse product exactly where you want it. Use them to sweep bronzer across the high points of the face, define the contours, or diffuse blush across the cheeks for a more seamless finish. Because blush and bronzer are often the finishing touches that bring a base to life, having two dedicated tools can make the difference between simply applying color and really shaping the look.
