You’ve likely heard of the gut microbiome—but did you know your skin has one, too?
Just like your digestive system, your skin is home to a thriving community of microorganisms that play a major role in keeping it healthy, balanced, and glowing. But this delicate ecosystem can be thrown off by everyday stressors, leaving skin dry, dull, reactive, and not quite at its best.
For this edition of Trial&Splendor, we’re putting the spotlight on Skintreats by Revox B77—a European brand known for its science-forward, minimalist approach to skincare. This microbiome-focused line is powered by prebiotics, probiotics, and barrier-loving actives, all thoughtfully designed to support your skin’s natural balance.
Smart Skincare for a Balanced Biome
The hero of this lineup? The Revox B77 Skintreats Biotic Resurfacing Activator—a glow-boosting serum that gently exfoliates without stressing your skin out. It’s powered by Hydroxyethyl Urea (a moisture-boosting humectant), HEPES(a pH-buffering exfoliant), and, most importantly, Gluconolactone—a polyhydroxy acid (PHA) known to be gentler than AHAs and BHAs. This smart blend works to loosen dull surface cells and kickstart renewal, while Kombucha (yes, the fermented tea) helps support a healthy skin microbiome. It’s gentle enough for both a.m. and p.m. use—just don’t skip your sunscreen.
Following this skin-resetting step, participants from The Beauty Edit community were asked to try a Skintreats moisturizer that best suited their skin type or concern. But just for fun (and science), they were given all four to try and discover.
- Revox B77 Skintreats Biotic Revitalising Radiance Cream
Rich but fast-absorbing, this cream is your go-to if your skin’s feeling dull, dry, or just needs a little extra love. With Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide, it’s formulated to hydrate, brighten, and refresh skin. - Revox B77 Skintreats Biotic Rebalancing Smoothing Gel
If your skin leans oily or acne-prone, this silky gel delivers a balancing act. Peptides and plant extracts help regulate oil and smooth texture, while probiotics and Vitamin C support clarity and glow—minus the shine. - Revox B77 Skintreats Biotic Rehydrating Plumping Jelly
Lightweight but deeply quenching, this jelly moisturizer is perfect for skin that feels tight or dehydrated. Dual-weight hyaluronic acid and probiotics flood the skin with hydration to leave it soft, plump, and visibly revived. - Revox B77 Skintreats Biotic Regenerating Filling Balm
This cushiony balm is a dream for dry, depleted skin. Infused with ceramides, squalane, and vitamin C, it works to restore the barrier, lock in moisture, and smooth the look of fine lines—like a comforting blanket for your face.
Our testers spent 14 days with the Skintreats lineup—and no two skin journeys were quite the same. Read on to discover their stories.
Glow, Activated: Quick Radiance for Busy Days
For busy mom Jeanne Lucero Tabana, 32, a complicated skincare is a no-no—she wants something convenient but still delivers visible results. “My skin type is combination and my skin concern is uneven skin tone,” she shared, so she reached for a combo that promised glow without the fuss: the Resurfacing Activator and the Radiance Cream.
“What I liked about them—especially the Activator—is that it doesn’t sting,” she said. “Because whenever I hear the word ‘exfoliating,’ what immediately comes to mind is that it’s harsh. But there’s no stinging sensation at all.” She added that the Radiance Cream is fast-absorbing and feels great on the skin. “It really moisturizes well.”
After two weeks, Jeanne noticed a visible difference. “My skin is now super hydrated, glowing, and smooth to touch. And it really helped lighten the dark areas on my chin, which was one of my concerns,” she said. These days, she’s confident enough to leave the house with just sunscreen—no makeup needed. “It’s perfect for moms like me, who are sometimes lazy to do skincare at night.”

Gillian Mae Sanchez, 39, also chose the Radiance Cream to target dryness, fine lines, and dullness. “Over the course of 14 days, I really felt an improvement in my skin. I feel that my skin is now more moisturized and hydrated all throughout the day,” she shared. “It minimized my pore size and brightened my skin tone.
She added: “I also felt that my skin clarity or the brightness of my skin has improved, and I’m looking forward to using it for a longer time.”

As for Glaiza Pacpac, 35, the results spoke for themselves. After 14 days of using the products, her already beautiful skin looked even more radiant and healthy.

Dewy, Bright, and Clear: Hydration That Delivers
For makeup artist and color analyst Anna Paola Minerales, oily skin, enlarged pores, and emerging fine lines had become her main skin concerns in her 30s. Looking for a gentle yet effective solution, she turned to the Resurfacing Activator and Rehydrating Plumping Jelly—and saw a noticeable difference in both hydration and clarity.
She appreciated the gentle formula of the Activator, saying, “It gets really absorbed… and even though it’s an acid, it doesn’t really feel harsh on my skin.” After a week of nightly use, she shared, “For the past seven days, I’ve noticed that my skin has become clearer and it’s definitely feeling more supple, definitely a lot softer.” By Day 14, there were more noticeable results: “If you look at my photos, you could really see that it got clearer. My skin looks more glowing… and Revox actually helped shrink my pores.”
While she experienced a bit of purging—a mild breakout or the appearance of small bumps often triggered by introducing new products, especially exfoliants—she remained impressed by the improvements. “I really love the [Rehydrating Plumping Jelly] so much. I’m actually going to continue using this in my skincare routine because it’s just so hydrating on my skin.”

She’s not alone. Lala M., who works night shifts, found herself reaching for the same jelly to combat tired, dull-looking skin. The lightweight, fast-absorbing texture suited her normal to oily skin and fit easily into her routine. “It doesn’t feel greasy at all, and it behaves well on my skin or makeup,” the 27-year-old shared.
After seven days, she noticed her skin felt more hydrated and looked fresher. By the second week, she saw an even bigger change: “I look less tired compared to how I did on day zero,” she remarked. “I can recommend this for oily girls, especially those who often look tired.”
Bright, Not Shiny: A Skincare Surprise for Oily, Sensitive Skin
Theresa Alabanza, 40—who goes by Zoey—was initially hesitant to try daily exfoliation due to her sensitive, acne-prone skin. But the Resurfacing Activator proved to be a gentle game-changer. “They assured us that it’s good and mild for everyday use and it’s also good for sensitive skin,” she says.
Typically avoiding moisturizers in the morning due to the humidity, Zoey also opted for the lightweight Rehydrating Plumping Jelly. “I noticed that if I use it at night, in the morning, my face looks very bright,” she shares. That glow convinced her to make it part of her morning routine. “There’s a little bit of fragrance on all of the products, and I don’t mind that.”
After 14 days, she observed marked improvement. “My skin is so bright, I [would] just use a sunblock and my serum, and of course my handy lipstick.” As she put it: The products “worked its magic” on her oily and sensitive skin, letting it go “from tired and shiny to bright and balanced.”

A Simplified Strategy For Smoother Skin
For Rachelle Ann Tolentino, 37, Revox quickly became an evening ritual she looked forward to. She used the Resurfacing Activator every other night, layered with the Rebalancing Smoothing Gel to address roughness and dullness. “I’ve seen how the activator evened out the texture of my face, especially the small bumps, and dried out small acne.” As for the gel, she chose it to address her main skin issues, which were roughness, visible pores, and uneven texture. After 14 days of using the duo, she reported that her skin “improved a lot,” adding that the cream also worked as a good primer for days when she would wear makeup.
“It simplified [my routine]. It actually made everything better,” she added, calling the products as new mainstays in her routine. “As a busy mom, this is highly recommended.”

Though none of the participants chose the Biotic Regenerating Filling Balm as their primary moisturizer, The Beauty Edit’s Managing Editor Elaine Reyes, who’s approaching 40, found it to be a lovely addition to her regimen as she began focusing more on skin texture and bounce. “I was intrigued by the name—‘filling balm’ sounded rich and restorative—so I decided to use it as my nighttime moisturizer,” she shared. Her verdict? “It’s called a balm, but it feels surprisingly light and comfortable. I love how much smoother my skin looks in the morning—and it definitely feels softer, too.”
A Gentle Bump in the Road
At The Beauty Edit, we believe in sharing the whole story, including the not-so-perfect parts. A few days in, some participants noticed small bumps and breakouts—classic signs of purging, a temporary reaction that can happen when introducing products with actives. To be cautious, those affected paused their use of the products.
According to board-certified dermatologist Dr. R-jay Agbon, purging is “a process [that] pushes all the gunk that was already clogging your pores to the surface much faster than it would have naturally.” He clarifies: “This isn’t a new breakout caused by the product itself, but rather a sped-up version of breakouts that were already forming under the skin’s surface.”
He adds that the most common culprits that can cause this reaction are retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), and polyhydroxy acids (PHAs). In this case, the Activator contains PHA, placing it in the category of chemical exfoliants. “These ingredients are all designed to help clear out pores and renew the skin, so a purge is often a sign that the product is working.”
So, should you keep using a product when you notice signs of purging? “You can, and in most cases should continue to use the product during a purging period,” Dr. Agbon says. “Purging typically lasts one full skin cycle, which is about four to six weeks.” However, he advises: “If you’re experiencing a very severe reaction, or if it extends beyond six to eight weeks, you should consider stopping the product and consulting with a dermatologist.”
The Wrap-Up
In the end—and despite differences in skin types, concerns, and experiences—many participants came to the same conclusion: Revox B77 Skintreats delivers thoughtful, effective skincare in a simple, doable routine. Whether it was smoother texture, deeper hydration, or the unexpected joy of a more streamlined regimen, most walked away with something new to love. For anyone looking to reset, rebalance, or simply bring their skin back to center, this microbiome-friendly lineup might just be the refresh you need.
