At a recent workshop on skincare, we were re-introduced to one of the top-of-mind brands regarding toners, Thayers. And for those of us who’ve only ever known and tried its toners, it was truly a happy surprise to discover its full skincare line, which includes cleansers and moisturizers.
Thayers’ simple but super potent skincare line has a dedicated cleanser, toner, and moisturizer catering to normal to dry and dry to very dry skin types, which in fact can vary on a day-to-day basis, per the regional product manager for L’Oreal, the distributor of Thayers in the Philippines, Szehong Seah, who flew in all the way from Singapore to share with us the beauty and benefits of the Thayers range. He suggested how we can use the regular line daily (if we have normal to dry skin), and switch to the more hydrating line on days when we feel our skin could use a little more hydration.
We started by measuring our skin’s current moisture level using a device. The goal was the get the moisture level up after applying Thayers onto the skin. Then out came clear dishes, with a small sample of Thayers products (plus an outlier), which allowed us to feel, smell, and try them on the back of our hands—as well as guess which Thayers products were in the dishes. Our thoughts? “It’s non-drying.” “It’s thick but feels lightweight.” “It dries soft and smooth.”
We noticed how the cleansers were low-foaming, which alludes to their gentle formula that doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils—while thoroughly cleansing the face. As for the toners, we talked about how it’s one of the most skipped steps in skincare, because we often ask, why do we need it and what is it for? The use of toners comes after cleansing the face and is meant to prep the skin to absorb and take in all the nourishment from the next steps: serums, moisturizers, and everything in between. But all the same, Szehong Seah also pointed out how Thayers toners can also give the skin a hydration boost, help reduce the appearance of pores, even out the skin tone, and strengthen the skin barrier.
Last but not least were the moisturizers, the necessary step for locking in moisture on the skin. Worth noting was the mention of the technology that allows moisture to deeply penetrate up to five layers of the skin, locking in about 80 hours of hydration! As we all know, moisture is super essential in keeping our skin barrier—our skin’s first defense against external factors—healthy and nourished. We can’t wait to fully experience the full Thayers’ line and report back results!
On the whole, it was definitely a treat discovering Thayers’ skincare range together with friends in beauty. Held at LOOK at SM Mall of Asia, the skincare workshop was attended by members of the press, beauty creators, and of course, the Scent and Beaute and L’Oreal team. See the gallery below for more.
