Mother’s Day, Well Spent: Beauty, Bonding, and the Best Reasons To Shop

The Beauty Edit gathered moms, daughters, and fellow beauty lovers for an afternoon of new brands, memorable moments, and everything worth discovering at Spatio.
Reading Time: 6 minutes

She’s the one who buys gifts for everyone else. But when it comes to gifting her, most people are stumped. And truthfully, what moms want most isn’t usually complicated: real time off from planning, thinking, and taking care of everything or everyone, gestures that make her feel appreciated, and the occasional small treat she’d never buy for herself.

Consider this our answer to that: The Beauty Edit gathered members of our community—their moms, fellow moms, and the women who simply showed up for themselves—for a few hours of something genuinely made for them. Last May 8, we held a Mother’s Day Out celebration at Spatio, where everyone got to relax and discover the newest brands at The Beauty Edit Gallery: Sola, Tapies, and Clocheflame’s new Skin Spritz collection.

For the Mom Who Has Ten Minutes

SOLA is a Filipino brand that has spent the past two years asking a very specific question: what does base makeup look like when it’s built for our weather? The answer involves Korean Black Ginseng, an SPF 50+/PA++++ primer that behaves more like skincare than coverage, and a philosophy that puts skin first and the look second.

Brand Manager Julia Delgado walked guests through the full lineup—the Yuzu Jelly Double Cleanser, Yuzu Burst Glow Toner, Daily Screen Sunscreen, and the Foundation Primer, a 3-in-1 product that functions as skin tint, primer, and sun protection in a single step.

Makeup artist Miz Raffy then took over with a live demonstration: a 10-minute routine on a model, with a finish that looked natural, felt light, and held up through the heat. The argument wasn’t that it was fast—it was that fast didn’t mean less. Every guest left with a complimentary Foundation Primer sample in their shade: Light Beige, Natural Beige, or Sand Beige.

For the Mom Who Wants to Feel as Good as She Looks

Tapies is the brand that thinks most carefully about what happens below the neckline—specifically, how to make coverage feel less like a compromise and more like an invisible confidence booster.

Assistant Brand Manager Alex Concepcion walked through the range: the Daily and Triangle Nipple Cover-Ups, the Cuddle Bra with its extra side adhesives for a weightless all-day hold, and the Boobie Lifter for the low-back and strapless situations where support usually goes missing. All of them are seamless, matte-finished, made with hypoallergenic silicone—washable and reusable up to 150 times. They come in two shades: Soy and Oat.

A Shade and Shape Match session let guests find their fit in both senses: the tone and the style. Even better: Everyone got to take a pair home to try.

For the Mom Who Marks Every Memory with a Scent

Clocheflame started with skincare and makeup. The Skin Spritz—a hair-and-body mist collection—is the brand’s first move into fragrance, and it arrives well-timed, right in the thick of the sunny season.

Founders Arianne Amante-San Luis and Katrina Llegado introduced three scents. Dayglow opens on sweet orange and ocean sage, moves through jasmine and sparkling neroli, and settles into soft musk and amber—bright and citrus-lit, like golden-hour skin. Coco Crush layers almond and sugared pistachios against white florals and heliotrope, finishing in sandalwood, vanilla, and caramel—warm, creamy, faintly salty. Almost Bare begins clean—aquatic bergamot, crisp apple, jasmine—moves into green florals and cucumber, and closes on soft musk, vanilla, and cedarwood. Quiet and airy.

Guests also got to join a scent-matching activity: pick your dream beach destination with your mom, and walk away with the Skin Spritz that fits the mood—Phuket for Dayglow, the Maldives for Coco Crush, Santorini for Almost Bare. The Skin Spritz launched at an introductory weekend price of ₱649 (regular price is ₱699).

For the Mom Who Carries Everything

Moms hold it all together—literally, sometimes. Bags in the City joined the afternoon as the brand that makes the carry feel more stylish rather than just functional: modern pieces built for the real weight of everyday life. Shoppers who purchased during the day also received complimentary bag personalization on the spot.

A Weekend for Her

The beauty didn’t stop on May 8. Partner promos ran through May 10, and across the Gallery, with discounts and special offers from SOLA, Sibol, Tapies, Small Steps Skin, Dala, Scent Studio, Ever Bilena, Hello Glow, Careline, and Clocheflame. The first 50 shoppers also received beautifully curated flower bouquets from Flower Avenue. Purchases of ₱3,000 and above came with gifts, while supplies lasted.

For most of us, Mother’s Day is a single day. But afternoons like this—shared between a mom and her daughter or son, between friends who are mothers, or simply claimed as your own—have a way of becoming something you hold onto longer than that.
