Two Decades of The Devil Wears Prada, One Afternoon for the Sequel

A screening, a dress code, and a Beauty Bible worth keeping—The Beauty Edit celebrated The Devil Wears Prada sequel the only way it knew how: with intention, with style, and with the industry it loves.
Reading Time: 5 minutes

Twenty years is a long time to hold a film close. The Devil Wears Prada didn’t just give us quotable lines and an iconic wardrobe—it gave an entire generation a window into a world that ran on precision, pressure, and the terror of a ringing phone. For those of us who ended up in fashion, beauty, or media, it was less a movie and more a mirror: a little too accurate, a little too familiar, and infinitely rewatchable.

So when the sequel finally arrived, it felt only right to mark the occasion properly.

On April 29, The Beauty Edit brought together friends and partners for a special screening—an afternoon built around the film, yes, but also around everything it represents: the industry we love, the women (and men) who shape it, and the particular brand of beautiful chaos that keeps us here.

Dressed for Runway

There was one non-negotiable: Come dressed for the occasion. The directive leaned into the film’s most iconic moments—a touch of cerulean, florals for spring (groundbreaking, but still), a personal interpretation of the Chanel boot, or even a “hideous” skirt, styled with full conviction. The first film was the mood board. The execution was entirely their own.

And the guests delivered. Several arrived looking less like attendees, and more as though they’d stepped off a Runway set themselves—which, honestly, is the only acceptable outcome.

The Beauty Bible and The Bag

Every guest went home with two things that felt intentional rather than incidental.

The Beauty Bible was a love letter to the golden era of print—the kind that required a red pen, a thick skin, and the ability to function on three hours of sleep. Designed in the editorial style we grew up with, it features editor favorites and reads like a tactile memory of what it meant to hold a magazine and feel every page of it. Inside: curated picks from Blanc Nue, Kiehl’s, Filorga, Maison Margiela, Van Cleef & Arpels, Givenchy, Monotheme, Nuxe, Beauty Bar, Y.O.U Beauty, Dazzle Me, Formulogic, Small Steps Skin, Hello Glow, YSL Beauty, and Tapies.

The exclusive tote was its own story. It carried filled with picks from Kiehl’s, YSL Beauty, Careline, Y.O.U Beauty, Formulogic, and Dazzle Me.

Before the Lights Dimmed

Just before the screening began, the room had one more reason to stay a little longer. A raffle pulled lucky winners into a very good day: prizes from Estée Lauder, Tom Ford Beauty, and three Anatomy notebooks made their way to a handful of guests.

Two best-dressed winners—because of course there were best-dressed winners—left with something from Jo Malone and Tom Ford Fragrances. As one does, when the occasion calls for it.

The After-Movie Thrill

The credits rolled, the lights came up, and nobody moved quite as fast as they normally would. There’s something about The Devil Wears Prada—even its sequel—that leaves you sitting with more than just the plot.

Guests filed out still mid-conversation, carrying the kind of pondering that follows something that hits a little close to home. Because for those of us who have ever chased a deadline, navigated a difficult room, or simply loved beauty enough to make it a career, the film has never really been just fiction. It’s been, in many ways, the job. And we wouldn’t trade it.
