In this edition of The Editor’s Room, we were joined by beauty creators and journalists, fragrance aficionados, and perfume collectors, as we explored Manila’s first-ever Maison Margiela fragrances boutique and learned more about Replica and its latest offerings.
Maison Margiela APAC retail education manager Lynn Chow began by asking us about the top-of-mind memories that scents remind us of: Favorite travel destinations, a family member or loved one, and carefree moments or childhood were a few that came to mind. Replica, after all, is really about bottling memories, and as much as these are universal experiences, it is as much a personal and individual journey through the scents, too.
At the boutique entrance is an interactive display and an olfactory bar of REPLICA fragrances, where picking up a bottle triggers vivid imagery on the screen, creating an immersive experience that captures the scent’s ambiance, mood, and emotions.
We traversed through one experience to the next, via Replica’s 16 fragrances on display, including special mentions such as the Lazy Sunday Morning, Sailing Day, and By The Fireplace, as well as its newest release, called From The Garden.
We also discovered Replica’s home scents, from the candles and home sprays; as well as its bath and body collection, which included shower gels, body lotions, and hand creams.
Following the boutique tour, guests engaged in a tomato planting activity, which brought out the very essence of Replica’s new From The Garden fragrance. Created by perfumer Olivier Cresp and his son Sebastien Cresp, From The Garden bottles the experience of digging one’s hands into rich soil and harvesting juicy, ripe tomatoes. It was indeed a unique and memorable way to discover From The Garden and its “Tomato Leaf Accord.”
Finally, guests had a chance to purchase at the store and have their items personalized: with a custom cotton label, plus a photo print-out put inside the perfume’s cotton pouch.
